No Longer Accepting Bair Hugger Warming Blanket Cases

Bair Hugger is a forced air warming blanket used to prevent hypothermia in patients during certain surgeries. The warming blanket has been used in the United States since 1988 with over 80% of U.S hospitals currently using the Bair Hugger technology.

The Bair Hugger warming blanket technology has been used extensively since it was introduced to the market in the late 1980’s. However, there have been several reports of serious complications in relation to the blanket’s use during surgical implant procedures. Patients who have underwent surgery to receive implants, including knee implants, hip implants, or artificial heart valves have reported cases of serious infection, including joint infection, MRSA infection, soft tissue infection, and sepsis. Some instances have resulted in patients having limbs amputated due to the serious nature of the infection they contracted.

Settlements are not yet being paid in Bair Hugger lawsuits as these case are just being filed in 2015.  It is expected that this litigation will move forward and result in compensation for consumers harmed by this device. Settlements typically include money damages for pain and suffering, disability, medical bills, and lost wages.
