AUSTIN — The past two years have seen two facilities operated by Express Scripts get shut down leading to the loss of hundreds of jobs.
Express spokesman David Whitrap explained to The Star-Telegram that workers will receive 60 days of pay with the facility quickly being fully vacated, saying “The decision to reduce our workforce is a difficult one.”
Express Scripts cut 566 Texas jobs in May 2014 when it announced the first facility closure but did not change the status of the Riverside Facility – the facility that has most recently been closed.
The facility had been under Express control since a 2009 purchase in which the company acquired NextRx. While Express has now shutdown their two largest Texas facilities, they still employ approximately 250 Texans.
