No Longer Accepting Fluoroquinolone Cases

Noroxin Lawsuits: Peripheral Neuropathy

Commonly asked questions about Noroxin (norfloxacin):

What Is Noroxin?

Noroxin (norfloxacin) is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic produced and distributed by Merck. The drug was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in 1986. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections, including urinary tract infections, some sexually transmitted diseases, and prostate gland infections (prostatitis). Unfortunately, it has been linked to serious health complications. Studies dating back to 2004 have found drugs containing fluoroquinolone to increase the risk of peripheral neuropathy, a form of nerve damage.

What Are Severe Complications Of Noroxin?

In August 2014, the medical journal Neuropathy published a study that found antibiotics that contain fluoroquinolone to double the risk of developing peripheral neuropathy. Lawsuits are being filed on behalf of patients who have suffered complications from taking this dangerous drug. If you or a loved on has experienced negative side effects, you may have a legal claim against Merck. Settlements are expected to be substantial.

Can Noroxin Cause Peripheral Neuropathy?

Peripheral neuropathy is an identified risk of fluroquinolones and was added to the Warnings or Warnings and Precautions sections of all the labels for systemic (oral and injectable) fluoroquinolone drugs in 2004 by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

It can cause symptoms in the arms or legs such as pain, burning, tingling, numbness, weakness, or a change in sensation to light touch, pain or temperature. These symptoms can occur early in treatment and may be permanent. However, it is crucial to report them to your health professional as it may be linked to the potential disease of peripheral neuropathy.
