LAFAYETTE, La. — A Washington women recently filed a complaint in Louisiana Court against Takeda Pharmaceuticals and its subsidiaries alleging that their drug, Actos, led to the development of her badder cancer, according to the Louisiana Record.

The complaint was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana in April, citing negligence and strict products liability in addition to other counts.

The drug, taken by the plaintiff to treat her Type II Diabetes Mellitus, was reportedly taken between January and December 2011 with bladder cancer being diagnosed in June 2013.

As a result of this development, the plaintiff claims that she has suffered permanent mental and physical pain and suffering leading to injury, emotional distress, and financial hardship to cover increased medical and living expenses.

The plaintiff claims that Takeda should be held responsible as they developed the drug as well as executed the process of taking it to market while concealing their knowledge that Actos’ carried extremely dangerous risks to consumers.
